The weekly ladies’ program at Gurdwara Sahib Yishun is a special program designed for and run by women. Sikh ladies are an important and invaluable\u00a0component of any Sikh Sangat throughout the Sikh temples.\u00a0<\/p>

Ever since the early days of both the Naval Police Gurdwara and the Sembawang Sikh Temple, the ladies have always played an active role in the langgar preparation sewa in Kitchen. They were always there very early in the morning, well before the commencement of religious activities.\u00a0<\/p>

It is no different in Gurdwara Sahib Yishun, where the rich traditions of the Istri Sat Sangs of the predecessor Gurdwaras have continued to flourish.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Sembawang Sikh Temple also had a unique arrangement in place where not only were some ladies elected to be part of the Gurdwara Management Committee, they were also co-opted if and when necessary.\u00a0<\/p>

The Istri Sat Sang played an active in fund raising for the construction of Gurdwara Sahib Yishun. They organised various fund raising activities and raised a sum of $35,000 by the time the new Gurdwara was ready. Since then, the Istri Sat Sang has raised funds on various occasions for specific Gurpurab celebrations over\u00a0the years as well as organised Family Day Outings, Mothers\u2019 Day Celebrations and Lohri, to name a few. When funds were recently\u00a0being collected for the \u2018Lease Extension\/Refurbishment Donation Fund\u2019 of the Gurdwara in 2021, the Istri Sat Sang raised another sum of over $10,000 for the purpose.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
